The NESDR Mini 2+ from NooElec works great. The tuner in it is better than the one in my Tivo.īut I do wish it had more than one tuner so I could watch one program while watching another. There is a lot of leg time from when you push a button on the remote until the reviver responds, and the button the remote are way too small. When I fast forward and press the button to stop, It take so long I miss as much as 10 minutes of the program and have to rewind. I would have given a 5 star except for a couple of things. Even in 1080 and on my 60 inch tv, not even. ONE REMOTE FOR THE WHOLE HOUSE! Plus if you lose it, click a button on the box and the remote makes noises so you can find it. We love the feel of the remote, which can also turn our tv on/off and control the volume. The videos don't load fuzzy and then buffer into clarity, they are perfect right away. The speeds are fast even on wifi, but with the ethernet input we have NEVER had a stutter, not one. Compared to the Amazon Fire stick we bought and the Fire TV my brother has, or the old Roku my parents have, this is awesome. My wife and I recently cut cable tv and this is plenty for us. It would be sad to come home to a shell of a house because I wanted to time-shift a TV show! BETTER THAN THE AMAZON FIRE! There are so many amazing things I can say about this. I had hoped to use it to record some shows while away. And I noted the unit was uncomfortably warm as well. However, when I turned my laptop off, I pulled the AverMedia from the USB port and burned my finger! The metal screw attachment for the antenna, while it wasn't glowing, was too hot to handle. It was a good clear picture, I was again pleased. I spent the evening getting it installed, unpacking the little antenna.

I got my little gizmo several days ahead of what Amazon predicted the shipping time, quite pleased with the service. There is no need to go out and find firmware files if you are going to run this on Windows. I also tried it out on my Windows 7 machine and it worked great there as well right out of the box. I connected my home made HD antenna to the tuner and I get 33 channels. I did, however, have to download the correct firmware file for the tuner from the internet. The Raspbian Linux OS already has the driver built in and the device is immediately recognized.

I have this connected to a Raspberry Pi 2 running the TvHeadEnd PVR application.
